Edition 4
For only the 2nd time in my life, I ended up binge watching a series on Netflix, “Run with the Wind” an animated series based on a manga comic. Predictably it is about running, specifically a group of young guys training for the Hakone Ekiden in Japan. Although it came recommended to me over a year ago, I had avoided it as it meant committing over 7 hours to what seemed like a pastime. But the fact that it is about running made me get past my reservations and have a lot of fun watching it. And I had 3 different people who messaged me this week, all sending me links to it! The last time I felt such a visceral reaction from a work of fiction was when I read “Once a Runner” by John Parker Jr. Strongly recommend it.
A very useful video by Jamie, a world class cyclist and management professor (am sure he will love the order of his description!) on nutrition management before raceday. This is something I had figured out on my own over the years of getting into difficult situations before and during a race. And I mostly run. I guess it is harder for cyclists.
