Edition 207
It has been over a month and a half since I sent an edition. I have come close to drafting one and then losing my train of thought over what I wanted to write and then abandoned at least one draft.
A similar fate befell even this edition before I decided to write an update rather than whatever was the intended content (which I didn’t commit to the computer before I forgot).
In the 6 weeks since the previous edition, I have run at least 100km each week as I begin training towards the Amsterdam Marathon in Oct. So that’s one thing that has consumed my energy, quite literally. I also did 2 events, 2 weeks apart, both of them incidentally over an hour’s drive away from Bangalore. That took care of 2 weekends at least since I didn’t have time to sit down and write.
The happy takeaways from both events is that I got mostly what I wanted from both - a place at the top of the podium in the category I was competing in (one was an age group, the other was a relay in a triathlon), although I missed the time targets I had set, on both occasions.
I have been playing some chess on the iPad with my son, thanks in part to Duolingo but also lichess.org, both of which have rekindled an old interest. I have also managed to get some reading/listening to audiobooks done.
Other than the handful of readers of this newsletter who wrote in/messaged to check why I hadn’t written an edition in a while, what have the rest of you been up to? Tell me at least one interesting thing you think I may not know.
Here’s one from me: the Ampla Fly was an innovative carbon-plate shoe, long before the Nike Vaporfly
