Edition 200 - running for a cause
It is that time of the year when running comes to my city, Bangalore. The TCS 10K is an annual fixture. One of the few things that marquee running events (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore) get right, is the fundraising opportunities as well as the support to various charities. And this event is one such forum.
This time, Paresh, a friend of a friend has reached out to me on behalf of a cause called Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF). ABBF are the inclusion run partners at the TCS World 10K. If you want to run along with a person with disability, (mostly visually impaired or blind), please write to me and I will connect you to Paresh.
Paresh has kindly offered complimentary passes to anyone who wants to do so.
I am mostly taking it easy on the running front and expect to start improving my swimming over the summer. I have also begun reading a little more than I have in the past 2-3 years, thanks to the weekends in Chandigarh and Lonavala, in the past month.
I learnt about 2 interesting books via podcasts
Hope for Cynics by Jamil Zaki (the author himself has an interesting lifestory)
10 to 25: the science of motivating young people by David Yeager
Book 1 was interesting from a worldview standpoint, esp. given the current political environment. Book 2 may be useful from a professional standpoint since I have begun having more trainees who are younger than 30 years in the past year than I have had before.
Do you have any book reccos?
