Edition 194 - unexpected events, Aviation in India
I hadn’t expected to write another edition before my race next week. But I slipped and fell in the bathroom at home and hurt my ear in particular. In this era, medical grade glue is what they use in stead of stitches, unless the damage is something that the glue can’t fix. So for now, I am sticking with that :) The ear flap wound means I can’t swim for at least a week and won’t be running for another day at least. I am a little worried about my race since I am not sure what this means for a run which could go on for up to 12 hours. But I am trying to manage what I can control. So here’s this edition.
I also acquired a digital keyboard (an entry level Casio, if you must know) and am hoping to extend my joy from learning music from Duolingo to learning a few things. And while on cheerier things,…
'The Aeroplane and Making of Modern India' by Aashique Ahmed Iqbal (‘AAI’ - what a coincidence!) has been on my wishlist for a while. Since my reading this year has been abysmal while the book acquisition rate has been high, I am trying to gather whatever info on the books I want to acquire, I can, before I do. Sometimes that means listening to podcasts, reading interviews with the author, free chapters in various publications/website etc. While looking around for some such material on AAI’s book, I found this delightful series called Thursday Talks by the Godrej Archives. Listen/watch this. I was struck by the author’s statement on how it was easier to get from one British site to another than getting around in India. Makes you wonder how that hasn’t changed much, has it? Passport/visas complicate matters but isn’t easier to go from Bangalore to Singapore, than say Bangalore to Indore?
