Edition 152 - running & being environmentally conscious
I was scheduled to go to my favourite running spot near Bangalore - Nandi hills. Thanks to a series of events, I ended up being the only guy on schedule. Also, last week, I finished reading “In it for the long run” by Damian Hall, where he discusses the idea of reducing your carbon footprint even as a runner (less flights to start with, less plastic-packaged food even if they are protein bars, etc). That ended up convincing me of how criminal it would have been for me to drive alone to Nandi hills (~130 km round trip) to run ~21km up and down hills. I have done that before and may do it again but I will be conscious each time. If I had had company, that footprint would have been shared by 2 people at least, making me feel less guilty.
What was the last book that made you immediately examine your life (not necessarily in a deep manner)?
