Edition 117
You know you are getting on age-wise, when you see someone share their joy with their children (or other emotions to be honest) and you feel it. Of all the emotions that moved me last night, during Messi’s gift to himself and his fans for 2022 and life, his calling out to his children struck a personal note. I had a lot of thoughts over the past 24 hrs, as I read more and more about Argentina, while secretly praying Argentina won. Here are a few
I can’t believe Mbappe was so good. Much was written about how Messi mostly ambles around before he scores, but how good was that volley from Mbappe, who was otherwise quite muted during the game!?
Scaloni (Argentina’s coach) and Messi played on the same team in 2006!
Even Messi took 5 attempts to finally win a World Cup
Scaloni just gave an affectionate touch to the trophy and resisted an urge to kiss it during the ceremony before his players got their hands on it. Tells you volumes about where his priorities are
Greizmann had an off game, after having led France to the finals in a commanding fashion. And he was just 1 of many current/former club-mates of Messi in that match
Deschamps made such fantastic changes during the game, taking off Greizmann and even Giroud when France were off to a non-starter
and so on…
As you can tell by this outpouring, this is a long awaited event of my adult life and fills me with immense gratitude and happiness that I could witness it. I just hope you had something in 2022 that did something similar to your heart and soul. If you are happy sharing it, write to me
